What I thought I knew about makeup and facial care products has changed since diving into the green beauty pool. Makeup and skincare products play a huge role in our lives. We wake up in the morning, wash our face, and then the beauty routine starts. Throughout the day the products we are using seep into our skin, and it is important to know just how big of an affect it has on our health. Normally we are so focused on the "beauty" aspect of things that we tend to lose our health in the mix. Just because it looks good doesn't mean it's good for your skin. Why not use products that are beneficial to our beauty routine AND also beneficial to our health? Remember the saying, "Quality Not Quantity"? That saying rings true in the beauty world. Forget the quantity if it isn't in your skin's best interest. It's all about the quality of the ingredients being put into the product. The change starts now.

Our skin is the largest organ of our bodies, so why wouldn't that be the first thing to protect? Due to the protective layering our skin absorbs 60% of what we put on it. Scary to think about, because so many of the products we use on the daily are absorbing right into our body. The key to being intentional and taking care of the biggest organ your body has is to be aware of what exactly your skin is absorbing. One of the biggest changes you can make to benefit your skin and you is to switch from body oils and stray from lotions with all of the dyes, chemicals, and heavy fragrances. Your body will thank you for allowing it to absorb natural products that were meant for it.
The benefits of oil cleansing are far more important than any other moisturizing routine you could use . Our skin naturally produces oil, so why wouldn't we replenish it? While each person has different types of skin texture and irritations, there are various oils that work towards the specific type of skin you have. Chances are your skin is irritated because of the chemicals that are hidden within the product you are using.
With oil cleansing, your skin won't dry out. Your skin will continually stay hydrated throughout the day with this routine. Oil cleansing helps with the skin's production of sebum (your natural oily secretion of the sebaceous glands.) This is a great routine for all skin types, even those of you with oily prone skin! By cleansing your skin with oil, the natural ingredients paired with the oil will re-balance your skin, so the sebum production is not out of control.
Two key things to remember: Dry skin is lacking oil while dehydrated skin is lacking water (Province Apothecary.)
June's Detox Box from The Detox Market highlighted products from Province Apothecary which were valued at $133, but the Detox Box Monthly Subscription delivers at $49 per month. You can even go in and select a box for each month, after the reveal!
Province Apothecary amazed me with their Moisturizing Cleanser + Make Up Remover ($44), their Invigorating + Balancing Toner ($42), their Clear Skin Advanced Spot Treatment ($28) and their Healing Eczema Balm ($19).
Who Is Province Apothecary?
The maker of Province Apothecary, Julia Clark is based out of Toronto, Canada. In her previous pastime before creating Province Apothecary, Julia was a fashion costume designer. Since childhood, she battled sensitivities to eczema, so she ventured into another chapter by becoming an aromatherapist, esthetician, and herbalist. She devotes herself to creating non-toxic, healing beauty with farm to table approach. The ingredients she uses are local, wildcrafted, and sustainable.
Moisturizing Cleanser + Make Up Remover
The Moisturizing Cleanser + Make Up Remover is one of the best duo's because not only does it moisturize your skin, but it also removes your makeup and excess oil. This combo restores your skin’s natural radiance without over-drying your skin or destroying its natural pH levels. The raspberry oil stimulates cell turnover, which rejuvenates the skin.
The bergamot oil naturally clears your skin from congestion. The frankincense tones your skin, while the lavender restores and heals blemishes. The blend of essential oils naturally relaxes your system while promoting health and well-being.
Use every night to remove make-up and dirt. Apply to a damp face. Warm oil in your palm. Massage into face and neck in a circular motion. Remove cleanser with a damp warm wash cloth. For best results, follow with Province Apothecary Toner.
Invigorating + Balancing Toner
I cannot even begin to express how amazing the ingredients in this toner are:
Distilled Water, Rose Flower Water*, Lavender Flower Water*, Lactobacillis Ferment, Rosemary leaf extract, Geranium oil, Clary Sage oil, Patchouli oil*, Frankincense oil*. *Certified Organic. (All ingredients that are natural and free of chemicals.)
The Invigorating Toner does just that. It invigorates and balances the skin which proves a great option for normal, combination, oily, and congested skin.
Use after cleansing. Apply 1-3 sprays of toner directly to your skin. Air-dry for 1-2 minutes.
Clear Skin Advanced Spot Treatment
This treatment truly is advanced, because I had a few breakouts during my 30 day use of the product and the night before I could use one drop, sleep overnight and my spot would be gone the next morning.
This treatment carries turmeric oil, which is a source of curcumin. Tumeric is a known anti-inflammatory source and can also be used as a gut healing property.
The raw calendula flowers which were infused in Jojoba oil are a great way to alleviate cracking, dry skin, and roughness.
Shake oil before use. Apply once a day only. Place one drop on red areas. Wait 2-5 mins for treatmeant to absorb.
Healing Eczema Balm
While the name says eczema, this balm is used as a soothing and hydrating balm for dry skin. The rose hip oil brightens skin, while the Hemp oil softens and hydrates. The zinc naturally cools and calms the skin while the turmeric focuses on alleviating itchiness and swelling associated with extreme dry skin.
Apply a small amount to the affected section of skin. A little goes a long way. The balm also makes for a great mask combined with a drop of the Province Apothecary Spot Treatment.
