Non-Toxic Beauty 101: Ingredients To Avoid At All Costs

What if I told you that the United States Federal Cosmetics Regulations haven't been updated since 1938?! YIKES! Yep, I was just as shocked as you are. That means that the cosmetic regulations in the US have not been updated for 82 YEARS, since The Great Depression.
Let's start with the basics! If you are curious or interested in cleaning up your beauty routine and starting your non-toxic journey with me, this post is for you!
When I first started my non-toxic beauty and lifestyle journey in 2017, I was overwhelmed by all of the information I was receiving. It can be overwhelming to know what skincare products are considered non-toxic and which ingredients to avoid.
Non-toxic ingredients mean that the ingredients are pure and consciously sourced to ensure no harmful effects to people who are using the products.
Whenever you are looking for something new, whether it's shampoo, lotion, makeup, (anything that can absorb into your skin) be sure to check the ingredients label! This will give you the best information as to what is inside the products, and how these ingredients can affect your health.
Below I have shared some of the 12 most toxic ingredients to avoid, while there are many more ingredients to avoid, this list is a great start!

After seeing these ingredients, take into consideration the next time you are shopping for skincare products, it is really important to read the ingredient lists thoroughly and not skim over words, especially the ones you can’t pronounce. Your skincare products should be made with pure, organic ingredients and should not contain any toxins that could affect your health!
